 How to Teach Social Skills

Social skill activities can be taught and completed when the student is on task.

You can have discussions about these activities and prepare the student for times when thhey may need to use a certain skill.

If you have a student and they have  social skills on their IEP then activities like these are one way to satisfy that IEP requirement.

The following links are chapters from the district’s collection of social skills activities. They are easy to follow and easy to access. When you complete an activity (s)with a student you should keep a copy of the completed activity for documentation of your social skill lesson.

Take a look at the activities and see if they are age approriate for your student. If you are unsure be sure to ask.
